Hi, Edgar.  Let's look at what I've got in those files.

[13:27 ~]$ ls -p .config
Thunar/  epdfview/  gtk-2.0/  libreoffice/  mimeapps.list  xfce4/
[13:27 ~]$ ls -p .cache
fontconfig/  mozilla/  sessions/
[13:32 ~]$ 

So it's what we'd expect, .config is places where the Desktop and apps
are keeping my "customization" data.  .cache is also what it says.  In
your situation, neither are important to keep, both will be recreated
as necessary, and it could be that garbage in .config would cause your
symptoms, less likely but possible in .cache too.  I'd purge both and
see what happens.
