Several ideas for me to think about - thanks again. I'm happier with say php 
than Docbook though.

On the LFS Hints page I found 
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/downloads/files/blfs-deps.txt which is 
possibly dated. But I didn't find the software referenced? Is it around? Or is 
the hint too old?
