I am using 8.1 / cups-2-2.4. This is really strange because the
other exectubale are, as far as I can see, built. So, I need to investigate
this on my side.

I think ippfind is not built if avahi is not installed. ippfind uses DNS-SD
(implemented by avahi).

On my current in process build of LFS/BLFS version 8.1
find / -name ippfind
comes back with nothing found
I did not build avahi
