  Google found these:

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1055748-start-0.html
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=215669
https://classicforum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=28459.0
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=186550

However, you need to post the debug info from the logs that comes
after the above warning, which by itself, may or may not be part
of the "failure mode" you see (e.g., the warning may not be a
key part of the final error.)

See the gentoo link for how to check/fix your
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file.

According to

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/LightDM

"You will probably want to install a greeter. A greeter is a GUI that
prompts the user for credentials, lets the user select a session, and
so on. It is possible to use LightDM without a greeter, but only if
an automatic login is configured, otherwise you will need to install
xorg-server and one of the greeter packages below.
 "
