Afair it happened when I switched to 4.19, that would have been 4.19.3. Usually 
I keep the previous kernel until EOL (4.18.20 was the last one) and there have 
been at least 3 or 4 patches to the latest one. I like bleeding edge, but not 
*that* bleeding :)

It's still strange to me that this worked throughout all of my previous kernels 
and suddenly fails.

I was lucky to not experience that problem.

I have 2 headless machines in the office which I use for compiling LFS and it's 
very convenient to WOL them for building new kernels. This even works from my 
tablet in the living room ;)
