Hello,

I've got well it's now a blfs system v8.4, use to be just lfs then I
added packages with blfs so that's what it is now.

One thing I wanted to do is both get sound going as well as getm some
other stuff started.

I got sound, it did work I could rrun from the console aplay filename
or mpg123 filename and I would get output.

The problem started when I went to my other program, it required
pulseaudio as a dependency, so I installed it's dependencies and it
and now I don't have sound. This is what I get when running both aplay
now and mpg123 now, before they both worked:

#aplay 03.mp3
Playing raw data '03.mp3 Mono
underrun!!! (at least 1331.430 ms long)
underrun!!! (at least 1607.916 ms long)
underrun!!! (at least 3577.638 ms long)
underrun!!! (at least 3170.889 ms long)
^CAborted by signal Interrupt...
aplay: pcm_write:2053: write error: Interrupted system call
#mpg123 03.mp3
High Performance MPEG 1.0/2.0/2.5 Audio Player for Layers 1, 2 and 3
version 1.25.10; written and copyright by Michael Hipp and others
free software (LGPL) without any warranty but with best wishes

Terminal control enabled, press 'h' for listing of keys and functions.

Playing MPEG stream 1 of 1: 03.mp3 ...
[src/libout123/modules/alsa.c:129] error: initialize_device(): cannot
set hw params
main: [src/mpg123.c:309] error: out123 error 7: failed to open device

Again this worked just fine before pulseaudio.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks.
Dave.

You probably need to recompile mpg123 with pulse support. On most audio
hardware, only one application can open the sound card directly - and in
your case it's pulseaudio daemon.
