I have an HP 3970 scanner which comes with document software similar to that which Kathy has mentioned. When the HP software is being set up, you can choose which form the scanned document can be in. I chose to have the document appear in Microsoft Word. By the way, that HP documentation has the same capability as the multiple function scanner someone mentioned. It can copy a document, make it ready for faxing and even perform that function as well as do anything you need involving a scanner. The accuracy is unbelievably good as scanners go. The Jaws friendly aspect comes a bit short of the ideal, but it is workable. However, here's a problem. Sometimes, if you have both the HP software and Open Book on your system, Open Book will not allow the HP software to function. You get some kind of error message. Apparently, there's a file which is used that only one software package can access. Please excuse the vague nature of this information. I'm not computer literate enough to know exactly which file is involved.
