I have no idea what the problem could be, put if I were you, I would either contact the makers of goldWave directly and ask them about it, or use a different tool to convert the file to mp3. Do you have any other software that you could use to convert the file? If it plays in WinAmp then you could try the WinAmp file conversion tool, but I have never used that so I don't even know if it is accessible or not.
