Hi Graham, You didn't mention what operating system you are running. Plugging a USB 2.0 hub into a USB 1.1 port will only give you the 1.1 speed. Windows 98SE, doesn't support the USB2.0 standard, however Windows XP does. If you have the PCI slot available, and the means of getting it done, I would recommend installing a USB 2.0 expansion card which will give you as many as 4 external USB ports, and 2 internal ports. You can pick up one of these cards for about $15 to $20. An expansion card would be the preferred method, as opposed to an external hub. If it is possible for you to do. HTH, Richard Q. Hi I have an older PC that has the older slower USB's in it. If I purchase a new hub that is of the faster speed USBSwill it work as the faster usb or work to the same speed as the usb that it is plugged into. The reason I ask is because we purchased a usb network card and when we installed the software it detected that we had the older usb's and recommended that we upgraded them for better results with the card.
