It is funny about these programs. Tony says that Spy Sweeper tied up his
computer and slowed it down. Yet, I have never found that to be a problem and
I have been using Spy Sweeper from the very beginning. I use Spy Sweeper in
its original form and AVG for scanning of the system for virus problems.
Between the two of them, they do quite nicely. I have never used Webroot's
virus scanning element. Spy Sweeper is accessible but only with familiarity.
There are times when you have to use the Jaws cursor instead of the PC cursor
because some of the controls will only respond in that manner. Spy Sweeper
does have some hotkey controls such as Alt Q for quarantining files. It is
effective, relatively small and very good. You have to keep the software
updated regularly and Webroot comes out with newer and better versions about
every three to four months. It has an e-mail scanning element as well but I
don't use it because you don't need two scanners working your e-mail at the
same time. You would never get anything read.
Other than using the Jaws cursor and learning to understand Spy Sweeper's
unique design, I find it to be a very excellent piece of programming. But,
that, as someone will no doubt point out, is my opinion. However, it might
interest the group to know that Spy Sweeper is rated higher than any other
program of its type. I know it's tough to try to decide what is best. Even
Microsoft is in the game with a program which is supposed to do everything
except the dinner dishes. My only experience is that Spy Sweeper works and
does what it's supposed to do. I haven't had one major infestation since I
have been using both of the programs I've mentioned above, in tandom.
