Hi, Deb, It would be beneficial if you could get sighted assistance to determine whether your computer can do anything else like go into menus or start programs after coming out of standby. If it cannot, then this means that the computer is not coming out of standby properly (this is very very common since standby can be unreliable). If it still works (although without sound) try restarting JAWS with control+alt+j. Erin
