Not sure what's happening either, but you might as well also try routing the 
Jaws cursor to that place, then use either the right-click thereof, or else 
the context menu on the keyboard and then go down to 'Save as' which should 
give the option to automatically save the target since it almost sounds like 
something else is now associated with the file type or something.

Sometimes I've however noticed that I do have to use the mouse/jaws cursor 
to get the save as option on that context menu as well.
