I have seen avg 8 crash on SATOO as well, so I think they should look in to why their program crashes with a screen reader loaded. Unloading and reloading the screen reader seems to be silly. The next question I have is what if a virus is find a a dialog pops up, will this crash the software as well with a screen reader running?

I wrote AVG directly and asked them if I could keep Version 7.5 since Version 8 is not compatible with Jaws. This was their response. Note that they couldn't help trying to trash competitive software. John Justice Dear Sir/Madam, thank you for your email. I'm not sure if AVG Professional and AVG free are similar in their layout. The tech seems to be indicating that the problem is some kind of issue with their software and Jaws 9. It could be, of course. But before I do this, could I request some input from the group? For some reason, I don't fully trust the solution their tech proposes. Suppose it doesn't work? I suppose the best way might be to make a separate copy of AVG 7.5 before performing the tasks they have outlined. As for Spy Sweeper, why would they want me to get rid of a perfectly good program? I'm assuming that there might be some conflict between the 2 software packages. By the way, Webroot has an anti-virus element which can be added to their Spy Sweeper program. I wonder how good it is? It has been suggested that I move to another anti-virus program like Avast. That is certainly an option but not one I want to exercise unless absolutely necessary. AVG 7.5 is extremely blind friendly. Any ideas on this dilemma would be welcome.
