Thanks for that no jaws is not a 64 bit programme as of yet I am told there will be one late this year around December I think and I do not wish to go over to either Mac or vista I think I will just try to stick with X P pro until M S bring out the next O s the reason for going to ddr three was to try to future proof it as much as possible with the intention of going to 64 bit if and when jaws can cope with it and I don't intend to change this new one for around five or six years fingers crossed

You really will not get the full processing of a quad core because software doesn't use it accurately. Running Windows 64-bit would be better for this. Not sure about Jaws and 64-bit. Also, on a Windows system, you will only get 3.0 gigs of RAM to show up. Windows doesn't allow more than about 3 or 3.1. You could use either a Mac or Linux system to use the entire 4 gigs. DDR3 is expensive and you really will not gain much of a performance boost. I would recommend checking out MaximumPC's website. They also have the "Maximum PC No BS" Podcast that discusses lots of high-end hardware. They are the experts. Check it out. They are not recommending DDR3 because the performance isn't much of a plus.
