Also Have you checked to make sure you have Jaws configured to have screen echo highlighted for Word?
That is Load Word Insert F2 for configuration Manager Select User Options under the Set Options Menu Tab down to Screen echo and make sure that this is set to highlighted rather than All. Having screen echo set to All will produce the verbose results you describe so it is worth checking.
