Hi, all I'll say is that from personal experience Avast provides better protection even in the free edition. However, if you personally prefer AVG then stick to it, unless you're adventurous and you're ok at trying different programmes that do the same if not better job. The free edition of Avast can be used without registering for 60 days so you can easily try out Avast before making a longterm commitment. Hope this helps.
