Check to see that you have your JAWS punctuation set to ALL. This may not help with all symbols in the formula. I've never found a way around this, so have always resorted to using human readers. If you arrow through a formula, does JAWS indicate that it is seeing a graphic? Maybe there is a way for you to know what that symbol is if you know the graphic number. Just a thought.
