Hi there

I got hold of almost the very first game I ever played on a PC as such, and
while it's meant to run in the command line, and basically you type in
commands/answers etc., it just seems to hang if now run under Windows XP
Pro, and although I tried playing with various settings in the properties
dialogue, under the program tab, which seems to be basically focused on some
properties specific to command line apps, even when then trying to run it
from the then created 'shortcut', it just 'hangs', and if I try virtualising
the window using Jaws key + Ctrl + W, it still returns nothing, so I think
it's literally just hanging.

I suppose I could try create a virtual machine using an installation of
something like MSDos 6.0 (which I think was the last standalone of DOS or
thereabouts), and see if that would then work, but what then about
screenreading?

Anyway, know this isn't mainstream, but just thought I may as well ask, and
for interests sake, this game is the text-based adventure game of the Hobbit
from around the late 80s, and it was literally one of the first games I
really played on a PC (where had already been playing others in a Commodore
64).

Stay well
