Ok, FWIW, now going through the search results for the hobbit on that IFDB page, at least one of them works: The hobbit, the true story http://ifdb.tads.org/viewgame?id=pejw8j7qote04e6m
It did want the IFDB activeX control to help do it's installation since this in fact installed the glulxe interpreter to be able to run the game, and then when it had done that, it could in fact interpret this game. I do seem to need to use the Jaws cursor to move up and down in the text part of the window, to read what's happening, but the game works! This specific game is apparently based on the original, but was put together in 1993, and it works on my Win XP machine. Will definitely check out one or two more, as well as looking at that website, and it's also just possible there will be Jaws scripts for the interpreter, but lets see... Also now realised that the IFDB scripting engine I already have is (obviously) related and just hadn't gotten around to looking at it yet.
