Hi Patricia,
I'll try and answer your questions.
1. David has given a breif summary of the contents of the service pack.
This service pack contains some updates and fixes that will not be apparent
or necessary to the average user, but,
it will be necessary to continue to recieve future Windows updates.
2. As to the length of time it takes to download, well, that will depend on
your download speed,
which will vary from user to user.
3. This is not an automatic install, in that, it will install when
downloaded,
you will simply have to save it to a location on your hard drive,
and then run the installation as you would any other software installation.
During the installation, you only need to agree to the license agreement,
and let the program install to it's default locations, then re-boot the
computer when finished.
Note:
Even thoughXP is supposed to set a restore point, prior to installation,, I
would recommend setting one of your own, with a name that you easily
recognize
in the event that you need to restore your system.
Additionally, if necessary, service pack 3 can be removed thru the
add/remove programs applet in the control panel.
I have been running with this service pack installed since it came out, on 2
systems, and have had no problems.

How long does it take to download it? Or by doing this, does it just
automatically install it's self?

Thanks for all help..

Patricia
