Hi Donald,

Do you get the plunk sound when you plug the printer into the port you
normally plug the port into?

Alternatively, if it doesn't sound, try switching ports to see if it makes
that same sound.

If it doesn't, try using another computer, such as a laptop that will come
to the printer, as opposed to the printer going to the other computer, plug
it into the spare computer's port, and see if the computer recognizes that a
device has been plugged into the computer.

If it does make the sound, then you know that the printer has power going to
it, and that there's a software problem with the printer, or there is
another problem with the printer in and of itself.

If you don't hear the sound, it's a safe bet that the printer has no power
going to it, and you should check the cords to see if there is any fraying
happening to it, check that the power cord is fit snugly into it's socket on
the back of the printer, and make sure that the port wires are securely
plugged into the printer also.

If all of these things are ok, then I'm assuming there my be a problem with
an adapter that the printer may use, either externally, or internally.

If it's the former, you may be able to get a power adapter, possibly a
universal one from Radio Shack or Best Buy, or some other electronic
retailer, apply the correct adapter plug to fit the printer, and go from
there.

If you've exhausted all of these options, and you still can't get it to make
the sound or the printer doesn't power up, then I'm afraid it needs to be
serviced, either by you or a qualified technician that the manufacturer
recommends.

Oh, and by the way, have you checked that the printer is actually plugged
into an electrical supply? Grins.

Sorry, I just had to ask. LOL.
