It took a few seconds, but I did finally hear a muted plunk when plugging in my USB keyboard. It is just not as obnoxious as in XP. I plug in my keyboard all the time and never noticed it. Maybe my Windows volume is reduced, since different volumes can be set for each application and Windows sounds in Vista. Thanks
