AVG found something that symantecs one didn't even find, but it left traces - unless they were being replaced during the process/timeframe or something, but it definitely at least did something with regard to removing some other instances that the symantec one didn't find.

So are you concluding then that AVG's good at finding stuff but not actually remove them? What if I install a programme called Trojan Remover on my friend's machines? I know it wouldn't solve all the problems, but it would add an extra layer of protection to some extent.

This past week, I had a thing creating a bit of its spyware engine as an executable called SBSB.exe in the root of all drives it could access, and while Symantec's Norton didn't seem to manage much, at least AVG could find the files, but I still had to go remove around 7 registry entries on one machine myself.

Hi all,
Hannah and I are both using AVG 8 Free Edition and Super Antispyware Free Edition. We want your opinions on the following please. We're observing that AVG is picking up spyware, but is having problems removing all of them found, yet Super Antispyware is having no problems removing all that is found. Should we be looking for a better antivirus solution? I understand that we're getting what we've paid for, but just want you opinions on the above. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
