Many years ago JAWS provided support to some degree for TaxAct. I think
version 5.1 of JAWS came with scripts for TaxAct. I bought this for several
years and it worked reasonably well. The scripts were not kept up to date
as far as I know. Each year, I had to rename the script files since the
name of the executable changed, such as "TaxAct2006.exe". The program
changed some each year and the old scripts were getting quirky. I gave up
doing my own taxes two years ago and just went to H&R Block. This was
partly due to my annoyance in dealing with a quirky interface. But mostly,
it was geared toward avoiding the fighting with my impatient wife! I needed
her each year to a limited extent to read off the numbers from each block on
the W2s and other tax documents. Now I just have her put all the tax
documents in a folder and take it to H&R Block. I actually prefer to do
them myself and save the money.
TaxAct.com actually offers free tax preparation on their site. This is most
likely very accessible! There is a charge, I think for electronic filing.
It used to be almost as expensive to file state and federal returns
electronically from the web as buying the deluxe package and do it all
locally. I was also a little nervous about storing my tax information on
their site.

I'd also be interested in knowing this. I've had my dad do my taxes for me
for years now and I think it's about time I learn how to do it myself. I
