Hello larry. Hopefully I can help you out a bit with this as far as I know it anyways. If you are with a sprint or verizon network, wich is CDMA you have to go with some sort of pocket pc phone and install mobile speak, either the smart phone version or mobile speak pocket for pocket pcs. As was said earlier, if on a gsm network like at&t or t-mobile we have a bit more options and can use talks or the simbion version of mobile speak. Have a look at mobile speaks sight and it has a listing of phones that it will support and what network they work on. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Stansifer" <[email protected]>

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Cell phone confusion.

Hi folks,

I am an all tel subscriber and would like to know what if
any of the speech accessible phones and software packages
are available on their network.
I really don't understand the nexus between hardware and
network capability. My pea brain tells me that if for
example a particular phone is accessible on one network it
should be accessible on all networks, this however does not
appear to be the case.
Any help you folks can provide in untangling this mess would
be greatly appreciated.

BTW

What the hell is an unlocked phone and should I care?

TNX

Larry
