Hi, Victor. Actually it's for a friend I was trying to help. I forgot about the box that says "my server requires authentication". That's why she could be getting those error messages.
Maybe by checking this box, the error messages will go away.

Hi Rosemarie,

Did you check the box that says my server requires authentication?

If not, try making sure this box is checked and then try again.

Secondly, you should call the tech again who told you that you would need
sighted help to configure your e-mail and tell him he needs the wizard of Os
to give him a brain.

I have configured my e-mail many times since I've had a computer, and all it
needed knowing was the port numbers and all that other nifty stuff.

One does not need sight to know that, just a willing tech who is supposed to
know this stuff.

So, I would definitely call them back and ask another tech what the settings are to configure pop access for an e-mail account, and he should be able to
help you.

If he or she isn't, then speak to their manager and complain that they are
not giving the proper technical support to their blind clients that they
give to their sighted customers, and that should raise some nice red flags.

Now, on the other hand of the shtick, if this e-mail account was not
provided by your ISP, then you're pretty much left up the creek without a
paddle, so to speak, since it's not their responsibility to give you
technical support for something they didn't provide you in the first place.

Now, if it was provided by them, then you most assuredly should call them
back and speak to another tech, and/or a supervisor.
