Hi Steve, The hot key is alt+left arrow.
If you find that you have to go back into the folder, that same hotkey is alt+right arrow. So alt+left arrow to go back, both in Windows explorer or Internet explorer, and alt+right arrow to go forward to the same spot you were just in. Hope this helps.
