Steve,
Check your screen display settings. Make sure that the only thing Jaws is
speaking is highlighted text.
It will automatically speak the character by default but Word highlights the
text as the cursor moves along.
I'm not sure that's what is going on but it sounds like it.
Secondly, make sure that Jaws is loading the Microsoftword.jss file.
If it's running on the default, that may be the problem.

Afternoon,
I am currently running Vista, Office 2007, and JAWS 10.0.1139. Ever since
installing the new update for JAWS. When I read current character or
current word, JAWS repeats itself. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
