I do the same process compiling jaws scripts as you state in your first
part, but I have the program open first then I do the jaws script compiling
and I do hear that same message and then I close it all.
I've never done the last part you state in your message.

What I did was press insert+F2 to open up script manager.
This brought up the Windows Live messenger.jss script file.
I pressed control+S to save and compile the script, and I then received a
message from Jaws that compile was complete, and then it reported the name
of the window again.
At that point, I pressed the keystroke of control+shift+D to open up the
default script file, and jaws reported that the name of the window was
default.jss, followed by the word edit.
At this point, I pressed control+S to save and compile and I was faced
with
that error.
The dinky part is that I wasn't doing anything, or making any
modifications
to the script files, save for re-compiling them.
What prompted me to do this was I received a message from a friend, and
when
I went to read the message they had sent me via Windows Live, Jaws kept
reporting that it wasn't in any open chat window, every time I pressed any
of the numbers on the number row, in combination with the alt key.
I also wasn't able to hear the typing sound I was clearly able to do
before
that, and the typing notification from Jaws that I could get before.
At this point, I assumed that the script file had gotten corrupted or
something, and I did what I've always been advised to do, that being
re-compile the scripts, as a fail safe.
Well, this time, it didn't work, and I received the error on the compiling
of the default file.
Hope this better helps you understand my predicament.
