Hi Lino, Just a note here, if you use the C, option, this compacts only the folder you have opened. Using the F, will compact all folders, but the same conditions apply in either case. I wouldn't see any reason to compact folders that are empty. Here is a thought, and is common practice for me: Historically, Outlook Express has a tendency to become unstable from storing large quantities of messages, and it is for this reason, that I never store any messages in it. If you save your messages outside of O E, preferably on a different partition, where they can be easily backed up, then if your operating system fails, you will not have lost any messages. I save all of the messages I want on a seperate partition, for easy access, and they are backed up to an external drive daily. I save them as .eml files, and that way they can be opened by O E, and you can treat them as if they were still in the program. HTH, Richard Q.
