undo the energy saving options.if your harddrive shuts down it may be set to
a default for battery saving.
there you can also set if and when you want your laptop to hibernate or go
into stand-by etc.
those settings are located where the settings for screensaver is.

Hello listers,
How do you put a laptop in stand by mode? The reason I ask is because
after 10 minutes my hard drive completely shuts down. Once I turn it back
on the windows log on screen comes up. I press enter and it goes to the
desktop. Even though I put the setting for the hard drive to never shut
down. I am running XP pro and jaws. Thanks
