No. Avast handles more, this is why it takes longer to scan. AVG, the Free
Edition, only provides basic virus and spyware protection whilst Avast
provides antivirus, antispyware, antimalware, and even antirootkit, all for
free!

Subject: [Blind-Computing] AVG 8.5 Scanning Time

I have a new computer that came with AVG. Prior to AVG 8.5, I was using a
free version of Avast. AVG scans the whole computer in about 19 minutes,
whereas, Avast took about 48 minutes to do a complete scan. Is this time
difference appropriate, and does AVG handle virus, spyware, adware, etc.?
