My laptop has a wireless card. I don't know if this makes a difference.

Hi Michael,
You didn't say which version of Windows you have on either computer,
but if it is XP, simply go to the control panel, and press enter on the
Network Setup Wizard.
When the wizard opens, it will walk you thru the steps.
Run the wizard on both computers.
