Autosizer has not been updated in a few years, so version 1.71 will probably remain the most current version for quite some time. Normally, when you get an auto update, it's a good idea to install it to keep your program up to date. Unfortunately, there is really no way to know in advance what impact a particular update will have on JAWS. If people encounter problems with a particular update, you can be sure you will hear about it on this list.

To findout which version of Autosizer you have, launch it from the System Tray and press Insert-Control-V to hear the version number. It sounds like Autosizeris working properly. You can verify this by pressing Alt-Space while focused on any window to bring up the System menu. Arrow down to Maximize . If you hear "Maximize unavailable", then you know the window is maximized. As far as not hearing the ding sound,a few other people have reported this problem, but I don't know if thereis a solution. Autosizer is alittle utility that automatically maximizes a window when it is first opened, eliminating the need to do this manually from the System menu. Autosizer can be set to launch automatically at Windows start-up, and it runs unobtrusively in the backround. You can even set it to alert you with a ding sound to indicate that the focused window has been maximized. If you prefer not to install it, remember to always manually maximize the focused window (Alt-Space, X) to optimize JAWS performance. This is especially important when using your web browser so that JAWS can correctly recognize all objects on a particular web page. You can download Autosizer from the JAWS Users programs page under the Utilities heading. If you run JAWS 10, you should download version 1.6, otherwise, download version 1.7. I'm not saying that at all. I still use it. Sometimes it can cause a focus issue and when that happens you uninstall it, & reinstall it, if Autosizer is the problem is all I'm saying and if there is a focus issue the only way to find out if Autosizer is the culprit is to do just that. I really like this program & find it to be a very handy tool. Take care. The dates on the .dll and .exe were early06 and untill JAWS10 autosizer worked fine. Now are you guys sayingwe no longer need autosizer? I installed it back when Debbie Scales was running jfwlite. Several people on this list and the Jaws Users list have had issues with the Autosizer program, including David Ferrin if I am not mistaken. I am not trying to bash the program but, I am stating what has happened. All you have to do isuninstall the program and reinstall it. In my personal experienceI haveonly had trouble with the updated versions beyond version 1.6 andso I leavethe box unchecked for the program to update automatically. Belowis a direct download link for the 1.6 version. Also Jacob, could you explain to me how you were able to change the soundAutosizer makes when it maximizes a window? My sound doesn't workwhether that box is checked or not. http://www.jaws-users.com/programs/Utilities/AutoSizer1.6.html I hope this helps you with your focus issues. Take care. Often enough when I start outlook express, it initially says something like my first entry in the address book, but immediately afterwards, it in fact reads the top message in the list, and if I hit enter on them it reads fine. Only thing I can think of off hand again is to make sure all parts ofoutlook express and IE are in fact maximised - Alt + space, andthen the letter X.
