I am not blaming anyone specifically. But, on one computer web site I
signed up for. It had a link right after an article I read saying to take a
look at it. There was a supposed download that was supposed to help your
computer. And it was a virus. It seemed like to me like they put there on
purpose so you can request their services. It was obvious. I have never
had that problem on Blind-Computing. I am referring to another web site.
That one and the bible web site I caught this one from. This is one is
really bad, but it is in the process of getting taken of. Thanks to
Microsoft.

It is possible that this is true, however instead of blaming the
website owners, keep in mind that many of the programs found on these
"blind websites" usually come from other sources, and maybe the
program had a virus before it was put on the site. Also, as some blind
folks tend to use older versions of programs (because of accessibility
or whatever other reason) the outdated version can contain a virus.
Bear Share is a prime example of this, as well as older versions of
Winamp. Those are a couple of the programs I had problems with.
Scanning ANY file you download from the internet is a good idea, as
you never know when a virus might pop up, and seeing as how there are
so many new ones out there, it can't hurt to scan everything you
download anyway, and always keep your virus definitions up to date.

different blind web sites and I have already caught 4 virus's. It seems

are all on blind web sites. This last virus I caught, trying to download
and install, a feature for my Theophilos Bible Program to have the help
files. Which is something they took out for Vista users. My main point
is,
" Whenever you download of a blind web site save the file instead,
thoroughly scan it and then install it ". I am used to running the
downloaded installation directly from the web site. These blind web
site's
have some tricky virus's intentionally put there. Just thought I'd let
you
know.
