You can easily do it in windows explorer.
As long as nothing inside a folder is selected, the first item on the file
menu is a submenu for new, and normally the first item in that submenu is
'folder'.
Aside from that, when saving a document from word, if you shift tab from the
file name field to the folder file listing, and if nothing there is selected
either, right clicking brings up a context menu on which is also a new
submenu with the same contents.
Either way, this will put you in a sort of edit field where you can type the
name of the new folder, and then hit enter to save it, and then hit enter on
it to in fact enter it.
Two other things are that when in a folder list like this, backspace will
move you up one level without deleting anything unless you're busy typing
the name of the new folder, and to toggle selection of the current item, use
the key combo of Ctrl + space, and as long as you hold down the Ctrl key,
you can use the cursor to move around without changing selection unless you
then also hit the space bar to toggle selection on the then current item.

Hi list,
I have a folder that I created in "My Documents Folder" for a unit for my
studies. Within that folder, I have several files I would like to group
together into a folder of their own within the existing folder. I have
other files within the original folder, that won't be going within this
subfolder. Is what I want to do possible? I think it is, as my university
does it when they supply me with text books within a subject folder. And
each book, then has each chapter listed separately within that book's own
folder.
