Apart from turning off the monitor of a desktop PC, and some laptops, in the display properties, I think you could literally just set all colours to black, so your normal windows interface would run black on black, and I think you can also set some brightness levels, and you could maybe save this as a theme, or something, so if you were actually trying to show someone something, you could revert to a more normal display theme for a while.

Can't remember where to find all the relevant settings off hand, but I think they generally fall under advanced on some of the pages of the display properties dialogue, like appearance, settings etc.

Also in terms of closing a laptops lid, there's generally an option under power settings in the control panel that'll tell the computer what to do if/when you close the lid, as in do nothing, standby, hibernate, sleep etc.

Stay well

Subject: [Blind-Computing] display

Hello everyone:
How do I set it up so I can't see the display or anyone cannot see the display when using the computer?

Especially me, sicne I am blind as a bat, there is no point for me to see the screen.
