Also it will depend on what OS you are running. xp is pretty easy. Vista is
darn near impossible or at least it was for me. You have to set up
permissions. Windows 7 is also easy. You have to do the permissions thing
but it is much easier than vista.

The fact is yes you can as my external hard drive is shared with my wife.
On
her system it shows up as a network drive.
