Yes, I love that table approach! I think they borrowed that from screen
readers on the Mac or Linux. I use that extensively! In most cases, it is
also probably the easiest way to get the free space on the disk. However,
one thing I miss is to select several files and the total size was displayed
in the status bar.

Don, this is actually more accessible in Windows 7. Just set your view to
details, then use the left and right arrow keys to review the relevant
details. I personally like this enhancement, as it reminds me of an Excel
spreadsheet, as, for example, if you right arrow to the total size of a
hard disk, then you down arrow, you are still on the total size column.
Good or what! Anyway, hope this helps.

Back when I had Vista Home Premium, I had Windows Explorer set so if you
were viewing the root of a hard drive or device, the used and free space
info was in the Status Bar. Therefore, I could easily get JAWS to
announce this inffo by pressing Insert + PageDown. It would also
announce the size of the selected items. This came in handdy when
preparing to copy files. Now that I am using Windows 7, I have no idea
how to set this option, if it is still available. Does anyone know how
to make this information available in the Status Bar in Windows 7?
