Hi All, When I talked to my tech this afternoon to ask about all those .tmp files in My Documents, I understood him to say that I should go to the Control Panel and uninstall Office 2000 before installing the downloaded version of Office Home and Student 2007 that I have. I don't have any reason to doubt him, but, if I do uninstall Office 2000 first, I don't understand how the Word 2000 documents I created will remain. Could someone provide a fairly non-technical explanation? His office is closed for the day.

These are for Word documents at least, and it should be possible with Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. When you open an earlier version of an office document, the word '[compatibility mode]' will be displayed beside the document's name. This just means that any features you wish to use that are only available in the 2007 system will not be available until you convert to the 2007 equivalent format. Hope this helps.
