No, you plug the device in to your USB port. It prompts for an e-mail address, pass word, and asks for your physical address for 911 support. It suggests you use another phone for 911, as it isn't practical to practice using the 911 service. When accessing my Magic Jack services one uses one's e-mail address or ones Magic Jack telephone number along with ones pass word. You must use the computer to forward calls to other numbers. Magic Jack sends wav attachments of voice mail messages. You can save them for future reference if need be. Even if the wav attachments aren't saved, the message can be saved with the telephone number from which the message came for future reference. The free 411 service is used for directory assistance. Call waiting and three way calling is also available. But, I haven't figured out exactly how to use three way calling. There is an explanation on the site for its use. But, I haven't been able to make it work for me. Also, if you have friends abroad. Purchase for them Magic Jack, and they can make calls to their friends in America without charge. They will be given an American area code and telephone number. One can also choose whatever area code he wants. He is not restricted to his local area code. I had a friend who chose a New York area code while living somewhere else. The quality is as good as it is when using most cellular phones. You can use the Magic Jack device with a USB head set, as I understand skype is used, or with an orthodox telephone hand set. You can make telephone calls throughout America, Canada, and the Caribbean free of charge. If one wants to make international calls one just adds funds to ones Magic Jack account for this purpose. I have spoken to friends with relatives abroad. They tell me the rates are comparable to most international telephone cards. There are those critical of Magic Jack. If you Google Magic Jack you can find all sorts of blogs, and such both praising and condemning the product. There is also a rather good knowledge base on the site which can be accessed. It might be nice to let whatever infomercial play through else it will interfere with the screen reader if the screen reader is also played through the speakers. I use USB head phones for listening to my screen reader. So, when I want to access the general site, I can just turn off the speakers. The infomercial doesn't play when one access his own account to make whatever changes which he wants to make. Look at the blogs and do your own research prior to its purchase. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Justice" <john_just...@verizon.net>

Angel, isn't there some kind of code that you have to provide to the web
site when you are setting the unit up?

How is the audio quality when compaured to a regular phone line?

Have you tried the voice mail feature yet?

As you can see, I'm considering Magic Jack as well.

I had sighted help setting it up. But, I think that was just because I had little confidence I could. I have a cordless phone with a single telephone
jack. Looking back on the incident, I believe I could have done it alone.

Hello all.
I think I'm finally going to take the plunge and check out Magicjack.
I was just wondering if there will be any accessibility issues with
setting it up?
I am running Jaws 11 with IE8 under Windows XP home.
Any info would be appreciated. I've seen it at a friend's house, but
she had sighted help setting it up and that's sometimes a bit hard to
come by around here.
Thanks.
