It's a JAWS bug. My sighted peers at work do not have this problem with HTML messages in Outlook 2007. If I turn off JAWS and start NVDA and open the HTML message it works fine. But I don't care about HTML formatted e-mails, not because I'm blind but due to security issues. Plain text = no viruses etc and is generally more secure than HTML. Most e-mail viruses and malware come attached in the HTML code, when you open the message in plain text the malicious code won't execute.

Just wondering how to turn off HTML in Outlook here. But I also wonder why Outlook Express has no problem with handling the same messages. Thanks once again, and to you Jacob -- your option of viewing mails in a browser is also practical when a mail has got a clickable link. Thanks guys. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Øyvind Lode Sent: Friday, May 14, 2010 10:26 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] incoming email from HTML to plain text in Outlook 2007 Hi! I found how to do it: Start Outlook 2007. On the Tools menu, click Trust Center, and then click E-mail Security. Under Read as Plain Text, click to select the Read all standard mail in plain text check box. To include messages that are signed with a digital signature, click to select the Read all digitally signed mail in plain text check box. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Øyvind Lode Sent: 14. mai 2010 21:54 To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] incoming email from HTML to plain text in Outlook 2007 In Outlook 2003 it's called "Read all e-mail in plain text" (Options - e-mail options/format). Like you I can't find this option in Outlook 2007. I really hate HTML e-mail! So if someone know how to make Outlook 2007 convert all incoming e-mail to plain text please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated! -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Chris Feist Sent: 14. mai 2010 20:49 To: [email protected] Subject: [Blind-Computing] incoming email from HTML to plain text in Outlook 2007 Hi. I've searched everywhere In Outlook 2007, but I cannot find where I can change incoming email from HTML to plain text. Some of the emails I receive I cannot read with JAWS, many of them from news sites and so on which have pictures and the like, and I think it has something to do with the HTML setting. I do know that on a different computer, with Outlook 2003, I don't have this problem, and I know it converts my incoming email to plain text. But silly me, I forgot how I did that change.
