Hi,

I am sorry if this mail will be a repetition of what could have been said by
others, but I was away the whole day and only got your message right now.

(Please follow the next steps closely. However, I assume that obvious
details like entering your login details are not necessary as the Outlook
Express wizard would have guided you through that).

Before setting up any Gmail account in your Pop client like Outlook Express,
log in to your Gmail account.
Click on Settings when you are logged in.
Click on Mail Forwarding and Pop option.
When the screen comes up, arrow to the options and make sure that either
IMAP or POP is enabled in your account.
After this, save your changes.

Now go to Outlook Express:

First, make sure that your connection to the internet is reliable and is not
through a proxy server. Most proxy servers place some firewalls and block
some of the ports which Gmail uses.
Gmail makes use of secure connections to avoid snoofing by hackers, but some
proxy servers do not like it. These same ports if opened may open some
security holes of the firm.

In Outlook Express:
1. go to Tools > Accounts and click on Mail.
2. if you have not yet set the mail, simply click on New ... and fill in
your details as the wizard guides you.
3. however, if you already have the mail account, or you have finished
filling in your details, highlight on the Gmail account and tab to
Properties.
4. When the Property sheet opens, tab to the following:
Servers: On this tab, make sure that other than that your login details are
correct, that the checkbox next to "This server requires authentication" is
checked. And click on the "settings" button: here just make sure that Use
the same settings as the incoming server is checked. By default, the
checkmark is on, but just make sure it is so.
B. Before closing the Properties tab, tab to the Advanced tab.
Here enter the following details:
I. For outgoing server, enter 465 or 25. However, I recommend 465.
II. Check on "This server requires a secure connection".
III. For incoming server, enter 995.
IV. Also make sure that the "This server requires a secure connection" is
checked on.
V. On the timeout, it is recommended that the percentage be higher (make it
more than 3 minutes long). However, this depends with your internet
connection. If it is slower, just make sure the input is higher.
VI. You can also decide to leave the option of "leave a copy of the messages
on the server" unchecked.
Close the Properties sheet by clicking Okay after this. Then close the Mail
options and try your connections.

Please, if you have any problem you can send off list. I am sorry if this
message was lengthy or if the info was redundant,

Cheers,

Ishe
