This is often caused by network problems: if your email client has not finished receiving a total log of all the emails retrieved during a session from the mail server, and there is a disconnection or any similar problem, this happens. Next time it you connect to retrieve mail, the client would not have updated, or rather synchronised its log with that of the mail server so you end up receiving the same mail twice or even more.

The problem may also be the sender's client. If a person keeps sending a message, this action may be repeated at the other end. It's not your problem as such, but it is the issue of servers. Some listserv or machines responsible for lists may be the problem if they are clogged up. So the reason why you never experienced this behaviour on this list may be an indicator that David and company are maintaining their servers well! <smile!>

Subject: [Blind-Computing] MULTIPLE COPIES OF E-MAIL MESSAGES

Good morning everyone,
I have a problem which is silly when it isn't annoying. On some of the
e-mail lists I belong to, I'm getting multiple copies of every message I
receive. At first, it was two copies and that was annoying enough. But now
I'm getting 3 copies of every single message. Thank God it isn't on this
list or on my Windows 7 list. That would be a real problem.
Can anyone tell me if there's a solution to this?
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, Outlook 2003 and Jaws 11, the latest
build.
Is there a setting somewhere that can automatically remove duplicate
messages?
