Hi Anna,
The simplest and best way to accomplish that has been mentioned before
in this thread. Go to your start menu or all programs, locate internet
explorer, hit the application key and find send to. Open the submenu
with either enter or right arrow, up or down arrow until you hear
something like: deskTop create a shortCut. hit Enter on that and you'll
find your internet icon back on the deskTop.
Note: you might find the icon named as follows: shortCut of internet
explorer, i am not sure as i am using a French version of windows, after
you find it, hit the F2 key and rename it as you like...

give this a try;
1, desktop,
make sure there's nothing selected, by pressing the f5-key,
2, alt+enter=display properties,
3, now, shift+tab=themes tab,
4, right arrow one time, you should hear, desktop tab,
5, now tab and enter on,
customize desktop,
6, tab one time, and find the internet explorer icon, and make sure it's
checked.
now just tab, to the okay button.
