System icons are different from shortcuts. In the properties of the shortcut itom you will see only the usual information. For example you will see how big is the shortcut, when it is created and modified, but will never see the system properties.
To show my computer system icon:
1. Go to control panel/display and press enter.
2. CTRL+tab to desktop tab.
3. Tab to custumise desktop button and press space.
4. Arrow down to "my computer" tree state button and check it if it's not checked.
5. press enter.
6. Tab once and press space on ok button.
7. If you have 2 my computer icons delete the one that is shortcut only.

I can access "my computer" on my desktop by pressing alt-e as I don't have an icon to do this. How can I create an icon for "my computer"? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Negoslav Sabev" <[email protected]>

1. Go to my computer icon on the desktop.
2. Press alt+enter for properties.
3. Press ctrl+tab to land on computer name tab.
4. Tab to the change button and press space.
5. In the computer name field enter the new computer's name and press enter.
6. Tab to ok and press space.
7. You may be asked to restart. Confirm and it's done.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Changing computer name

HI All;

I recently inherited a computer and I need to change the computer name,
along with a ton of other stuff! Would someone please provide me the steps to change the computer name? It is an XPSP3 Pro Operating system and I have
Jaws10 latest installed, finally. All help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much. Take care.
Mike
