Hi Frank:
I have heard that Blackboard can be a little different depending upon the
school using it. I have used
Blackboard at San Diego State University both as a student and a professor
without very many problems at all. I was told, though, by several people
that it wasn't accessible. I don't know how they came to that conclusion,
because it is absolutely not true--at least for SDSU. To navigate, I
usually used the links list, and the heading and find commands without any
problems. The only problem I ran into was a security feature that would
block the speech when I wanted to upload files as an instructor. That was
annoying, but it usually went away if I tried a second time, and it may have
been a security feature specific to SDSU and not Blackboard. As far as
accessing your student's assignments and course material: If you're the
instructor, you will have access to his/her Blackboard site. Otherwise, you
can either have his/her instructor add you as a student or assistant in the
class so you can access the course's materials, or you can have the student
download his or her assignments onto a flash drive. That way you can have
the assignments on your computer without the bother of getting permission to
access the site.
I hope this helps.
Deanne

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Using blackboard with JFW
Hello all, can anyone comment on the use of Blackboard with JFW 11? I
will be working with a student that has to use the Blackboard software
in their classes. Which portions are accessible and what tips and
tricks are needed. Any experiences and opinions would be greatly
appreciated.
