David,

I'm wondering if this is like cable or is it a dsl?

For my cable for instance, on the advance setting is the defaults since time warner doesn't use this and it's 25/110.
on the server tab settings is, pop.tx.rr.com and smtp.tx.rr.com

if it's dsl that might use what ATT used on the advance tab of, 465 in the first box with the security box checked, 995 in the second box and also check the security box, it's optional if they want to keep a copy of messages on the server weather to check this box or not on this same page.

HTH,

Trish

Subject: [Blind-Computing] server protocols

If anybody knows the server protocols for the ISP

optonline.net

please let me know. I am in the middle of setting up a friend's email account and he can receive mail just fine but he can't seem to send out. I used:

pop.optonline.net
and
smtp.optonline.net

since I had no idea what to use for sure and figured those were the most common settings. When I left he had already downloaded over 1200 messages since he had been off line for a good while so incoming seemed fine. I hoped out going would turn out the same but unfortunately it didn't. Also any other setting for example on the advanced tab of outlook express would be helpful.
