The Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade is valid for XP or Vista. An upgrade from XP requiuires a clean install, which Microsoft calls Custom. This means formatting the drive and starting over. It is possible to upgrade Vista in place, without formatting, but I would never advise that unless the Vista computer just came out of the box and was never used. Since Vista has not been sold on computers since last October, this is highly unlikely. However, the dual boot with XP is probably just as easy and is more flexible, unless you would find that confusing. If you have Vista, my advice is to nuke it as fast as possible! Format the drive and perform the clean, custom install of Windows 7.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Upgrading from XP to Windows 7

I am using XP and wonder whether I can upgrade to Version 7. Do I need to purchase an upgrade or do I have to purchase a full version of Windows 7?
