Hi Lenny,
I have looked at Openbook 9, and I will have to say that I was far from impressed. The menyu structure has changed, and items renamed from that of earlier versions, it's not good enough to use the delete key, now control + delete must be used. There appears to be no faxxing capability,, it loads slower than version 5.0, and many settings are not where you would think they would be, they are very obscure. Not to mention, that on my system, the quality of the scan right out of the box
was less than acceptable when compared to version 7.02.
Personally, I wouldn't give any money for it,so it's a good thing you are able to use it in 40 minute mode just like a demo of Jaws.
Someone got paid too much for designing this version.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Subject: [Blind-Computing] open book 9 scanning

Is the open book version 9 much more accurate than 8? I can not decide if I want to upgrade or not. I do not use open book very much since my wife is sighted. There are occasions when I do need it. Not sure if the upgrade cost will really benefit me. Any thoughts?
